Annette and Christian were extremely friendly and helpful. We loved Belgium, and thought Ypres was a lovely city. We would definitely stay at Camalou again.

What a find - there can be few so comfortable and friendly guest houses! Annette and Christian supply a great breakfast and information about WW1 that is unsurpassed. We cannot praise this establishment more highly. We have not found a more welcoming, relaxing break anywhere. This guest house has gone to the top of our favourites and will feature many more times on our short breaks

Five of us stayed at Camalou for three nights leading up to the Anzac Day ceremonies in and around Ypres in April this year.Camalou is well situated and a great base for exploring the region. The accommodation is outstanding (spacious,comfortable rooms and a great breakfast)and our hosts, Annette and Christian are charming and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there - good quality accommodation at a very reasonable price. Having access to the internet to check and send e mails was a real bonus. Tommies cafe is very handy. The Last Post ceremony at 8pm at the Menin Gate is a MUST.

Heel erg bedankt voor jullie hartelijke ontvangst en gezellige gastvrijheid, de vele nuttige tips en interessante verhalen. Het ontbijt was verrukkelijk en de gedekte ontbijttafel een juweeltje (ik heb ze trouwens gefotografeerd). Ook van het gezelschap van het Nederlands echtpaar en de Schotse familie hebben we enorm genoten. Ons verblijf was op alle vlakken een voltreffer en wij komen zeker nog terug. Het boek “De Eerste Halte na de Hel” en de roman “Het lied van de loopgraven” hebben we ons reeds aangeschaft, alsook het “Volksboek van den Grooten Oorlog”. “Storm over Vlaanderen” is momenteel in het Nederlands niet meer verkrijgbaar en we moeten wachten op een volgende heruitgave. Although we were only able to stay one night, Camalou is on our "must visit again" list so that we can complete a proper tour of the battlefields. Belgian hospitality resides in its truest form at "Camalou" !!

What Annette doesn't know about the region isn't worth knowing, this also includes her husband and daughter. The hospitality provided by this family is first class and I recommend it highly to one and all
