- Leave
the ferry complex and follow signposts Autoroute
A26 (E-15 / E-402) to Bruxelles, Lille
& Dunkerque (amongst others).
For the first part you will be following signs A26,
but the road you heading for is the A16 (E-15
/ E40) north to Dunkerque & Bruxelles etc.
Watch for split with the A26 (Arras etc) and the small red A16 sign
on top of the main signposts. Soon the Autoroute from the tunnel splits. DO
NOT follow signs for A16 Bolougne etc. Always follow signs to
Dunkerque & Bruxelles.
- After
approx 25 miles Leave the A16 At junction 28 following
signs for the Autoroute A25 signposted
east to Lille
and Ypres
(amongst others).
NB - Ypres
is the French spelling of the town you
are heading towards. The Flemish spelling is Ieper (with an ‘I’
and not an ‘L’ as so many seem to think - but still pronounced pretty
much the same) which you will see more often as you approach/cross the
Belgium border.
- After
approx 18 miles Leave the A25 at junction 13 signposted
Steenvoorde & Ieper.
At the ‘T’ junction with the D948 (200
metres) turn left following signs
to Ypres
and Poperinge.
NB - After approx 3 miles the D948 becomes the
N38 (after crossing the unregulated Belgium
border).
- Follow
the N38 for about 7
miles until the road comes to a ‘T’
junction with the N19 (just outside of Poperinge). Turn right at
this junction following blue signs to N38
Ieper (also green sign A19 Kortrijk).
- Having
turned right follow the N38.
1/2 mile - Straight ahead at roundabout.
Approx. 1 mile further turn right at the
first set of traffic lights, following
blue signs to N38 Ieper (also
green signs A19 Kortrijk).
- After
approx 3.7 miles you will come to a junction with
traffic lights, on your right signposted Dikkebus
and Voormezele. Turn
right here.
- After
approx 1.7 miles you will come to a roundabout crossroads with the N375. Turn right at
this roundabout following signs to Dikkebus .
Ignore the signs for diversion as Camalou is situated before the road works.
- After
about 500 metres you will see a white painted ‘Tommies’
café on your left. Slow down as you approach this café as the
entrance drive to Camalou is immediately
behind this café (yellow sign). Follow the track to the group of
buildings at the end (see above drawing above). Camalou is the furthest of
these buildings.
