Road Description to Camalou from Paris

• At Albert take the D929 direction Bapaume.

 

• In Bapaume follow the N17 direction Arras.

 

• As you approach Arras you have 2 options: Follow centre ville and visit the tunnels under the Town Hall (there is still W.W.I equipment to see) or keep following the N17 direction Lens. At Vimy follow the signpost on your left: Memorial Canadien or better known as Vimy Ridge.

 

• After Vimy keep following the N17 direction Lens.

 

• As you approach Lens you have to make a choice again: Autoroute to Lille or take the more touristic road N47 direction La Bassée. In La Bassée take the D947 direction Estaires Between La Bassée and Estaires you will see a lot of Commonwealth cemeteries.

 

• In Estaires follow the D18 and later D38 direction Bailleul.
  

• Follow signs to Bailleul (just off Autoroute) and Ieper or Ypres (whichever spelling!) following the D23 then N375 after you pass the unregulated border with Belgium.
Always follow the signs to Ypres/Ieper in preference to Bailleul.
 
• After about 13 kilometers from Bailleul you will see a white painted "Tommies" café on your right just outside a village called Dikkebus. Slow down as you approach this café as the entrance drive to Camalou is immediately before this café. There is a yellow finger post directing you to your accommodation.
  
•  Follow the track to the group of buildings at the end (see above drawing). Camalou is the furthest of these buildings.
